Song of the Hollow Tree
By Jorge Bennet
Sleep my child, in my walls of umber
Sleep with the deepness of children’s slumber
A music mistress the river’s mother
Her voice lulls the spirits of twilight lovers
And singing of peace her song like a wave
Has taken the cares of the forest away
The hill giant snores, the great baboon dreams
With the pattern of branches and broken moonbeams
And even Nayalia whom the East Wind adores
Has fallen asleep at the fountain’s doors.
